The Team!

Believe it or not, the beauty and fashion world have a lot in common with the “geek” universe. Both are about transporting to a special place in your mind where the best magic happens. I admit, I am a self-professed book-loving, wand wielding nerd, but you also won’t catch me in a stained comic book shirt with a hoodie. I used book t-shirts for these looks, but you could substitute these shirts for superhero shirts as well. I’ve created three looks that allow you to embrace your inner geek all while looking chic!
Outfit, makeup and dupe details listed below.
You Know Nothing, Jon Snow
Photos taken by Brielle Stanks
I’m obsessed with Game of Thrones, especially the brooding and mysterious bastard, Jon Snow. So when I saw this shirt I knew I had to have it. I paired it with a some staples for fall, combat boots, knee-high socks, an oversized sweater and floppy hat.
I have a bit of a Harry Potter obsession and I also love black. So for this book I channeled my inner Slytherin (even though I’d never be in Slytherin), and I even broke out some black lipstick. This look is spellbinding with a long black skirt, jeans or even a nude lip.

My equally nerd-obessed sister got me the wonderful shirt and mug in this picture (I think she’s trying to get me a wizard loving guy). But I love the play on a Qudditch Keeper with this fun shirt. Add a beanie and leather jacket and you’re ready for any game, real or magical.

The pale color trend has definitely continued from last years runway shows; I mean who could resist the cotton candy colored hues that for surprisingly stand out as edgy against the sea of blacks and burgundy’s fall clothes usually bring? Last year it was pale pink, courtesy of Celine’s über popular pale pink coat (view here on vogue.com look #6). This trend broke open when Kim Kardashian sported this coat, click here to see. But this year I’m predicting another pale hue is going to be taking names and stealing the money out of your wallet. But don’t worry, this trend is too beautiful to float away, so you won’t be having any puffer jacket regret next season. Below are your pale hue options!

Photo of Maria Gatto, right, doing a clients makeup for a wedding. Photo taken by the wedding photographer, Ms. Gatto do not recall his name.
Hi all, once again I am digging deep to find out what the girls who love makeup have to say about beauty. This week I interviewed freelance makeup artist, Maria Gatto. Her Instagram makeup_bymaria, shows the beautiful looks she’s created and below is an audio interview I did with her. Maria and I met at a Starbucks, in between her busy schedule this was the most convenient place to meet, so sorry for the Madonna music in the back (well of course unless you love to get down to some Holiday!) Maria discusses everything from the 3 items she recommends any makeup lover has, what her favorite kind of freelance work is and who’s her favorite makeup artist, click here or listen below to find out!
