Good afternoon lovelys! I’ve had a crazy busy August, sorry for the lack of posts– but I am back with another review/makeup look. I recently went to Chicago, I seriously recommend visiting if you haven’t, it’s amazing, and while I was there I was able to go to Sephora. In my rinky dink Jersey town we have yet to get a Sephora, but a Chipotle is on its way so maybe I can be optimistic about a certain beauty store? Anyway, while I was there I picked up the stunning Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Raw Power, which is a shimmery maroon stunner and is the color I used for my lower lashline. Below is also a review of the new Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and this punk rock inspired makeup look.
Review
In the past few weeks I picked up the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Porcelain, and yes it lives up to the Youtube/Instagram hype. It’s a bit pricey at $39, but it covers all of my redness without concealer and features a satiny finish that doesn’t make me dry, but still has a natural skin finish. I’ve applied this with a Real Techniques Beauty Blender, Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and the It Cosmetics For Ulta Airbrush Buffing Foundation Brush in #110. I honestly think any of these options apply the foundation evenly and with a full coverage, MakeupByAlli has a great tutorial for how she applies this, which I think really helps if you prefer a brush to a beauty blender like I do. The color selection is also pretty wide with 12 shades, but one of my close friends couldn’t find her shade as she is slightly darker than the darkest shade, Caramel, and she is a caramel shade so keep that in mind! The only downfall of this foundation is it only wears about 6 and a half hours, but if you use a primer and some Fix + you’ll get more like 8. I’ve never been a huge fan of higher end foundations, but this one truly changed my mind– it matches me perfectly, wears beautifully and has a pump! Can’t beat that. Rating: 9.5/10
Makeup Look
For this look I wanted to channel my inner punk child, yes inside I am always wearing dark lipstick and wanting to riff on a guitar, so while digging through my makeup I found the Supershock Shadow by Colourpop Cosmetics in Erotic, which screamed Bay Avenue punk scene to me.
