After a bit of a hiatus, I’m back and happy to get out of my makeup rut with two super collabs from Dose of Colors DesixKaty collection (Youtubes: Desi Perkins and Lustrelux) and JaclynHillxMorphe Eyeshadow Palette (Youtube: Jaclyn Hill).
I did grab a ton from the DesixKaty collab and most of the collection worked beautifully, I especially love the liquid lipstick in Hot Fire, Fuego Highlighter and The Girls palette. But the lipsticks in No Shade and More Creamer Please, are a bit tough to pull off on my pale princess skin. They can definitely be mixed though if you want a bit of a more yellow undertone. Just wanted to give a little mini breakdown, see below for all the look deets!
Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Palette $38 and Dose of Colors DesixKaty The Girls Palette $28 (follow both brands and the girls as these come back in stock soon!) Noted as JH (for Jaclyn Hill Palette) and DxK (for DesixKaty products)
Hello everyone! I’ve been waiting to break out the insanely beautiful MAC Spellbinder Shadow in Mysterious Influence for a twist on a smokey eye, so I did today for this makeup look. I will say while these shadows are beautiful, they are very finicky to work with. I would recommend applying your foundation after your eyeshadow, and tapping any excess powder off your brush because the fallout from this was crazy! Needless to say even with some not-so-great attributes, I really loved the way this color looked on the eyes. Read below for how I achieved this look, and I’ll have some Valentine’s Day posts coming up soon 🙂
Lid: Applied more of Valley Girl in the center of the lid
Outer lid: Used some of Kat Von D’s Jet shadow from the Metal Matte palette to darken the very outer part of the lid. Can use any black shadow.
Lower lashline: Morphe 35O row 5, shade 2 (golden bronze), then blended Mysterious Influence with that, then used a black shadow with a definer brush close to lower lashes to deepen.
2017 is upon us, and with it I’m sure some holy grail makeup products will launch, but let’s not forget about the 2016 standouts! My favorites for 2016 have a mix of high end and drugstore, and also this year I discovered the importance of moisturizing so I even have some skin care in my line-up.The products below are the ones that will be in my makeup bag for a long, long time. So if you’re still on the hunt for your must-have makeup staples read below for the best in foundations, lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, brushes and more!
I’m finally back in action! I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA posting, life got in the way. I promise I’m not going to let it get in the way of my creativity as this is what I love and I don’t want to let any fellow beauty junkies down! I’m also going to try to incorporate some fashion posts into the blog this fall. Unfortunately, not all bloggers have got a photographer savant BF/husband to take some slay-worthy photos, but I’m gonna make it work so I can put up more content, anyway on to this review. Today, I’m reviewing Juvia’s Place Nubian 2 palette which I originally spotted on Nikkie Tutorials Snapchat. The colors and pigmentation caught my eye, and then I saw how affordable this palette is for the size and number of shadows and I knew I had to try it. Below are all the pretty nitty gritty details!
Individual size: 3.5 grams, a standard MAC eyeshadow is 1.3 grams
Pigmentation: 8.5/10
Longevity: 6 hours no primer, 10 hours with primer
Blendability: 7.5/10
Fallout: 5/10
Summary: If you’re looking for a pigmented and stunningly colorful palette, the Nubian 2 has all that and more. Even on workdays or more laid back occasions I find a use for the neutrals in this palette. I personally use Morocco, Jezebel and Yaas a ton; Yaas is especially stunning for green eyes. If you like Yaas, Colourpop’s Game Face is similar if you’re not in the game for a full palette right now. The mattes in this palette are all you would ever really need to blend, but the shimmers are really the stars of the show. The only downfalls are the shimmers have a decent amount of fallout and once you blend them you do have to go back in and re-apply color as the shades pigment blends away a bit. I usually apply my foundation and concealer last with this palette, which is something I’ve never loved doing, but if you want your makeup to look good you do what you have too. So how long does this baby last? I know I for one hate reapplying my makeup. The true test was when I wore this palette recently for my cousin’s outdoor wedding in the 86 degree heat, and with a setting spray it lasted all day and night long. A huge win in my beauty book. The value is also great compared to other palettes as the pan sizes are huge and the pigment is spot on. If you’re looking for a new affordable palette, each shadow breaks down to $2.50 a piece in this! I say if you really are lusting for a colorful and shimmering palette that’s versatile this is an awesome staple that’s also affordable.
Hello and happy weekend! I am currently sitting in my PJ’s on this Saturday night because I am just a partayyyy animal. Anyway, I hope all my party animals and not so party animals get some inspiration from this look. I’ve been dying to use the Buxom Eyeshadow Bar Single in Wild Nights since I picked it up from Sephora a few weeks ago. I thought I’d do a “modern day retro” look that is kind-of Oscars inspired with this shadow. I originally wanted to load this look with NYX’s Glitter Brilliants in Violet and it was a hot mess. I tried with Too Faced Glitter Glue (NYX’s reviews say it works well with the NYX glitter glue so I may try that) but besides that my glitter stopped coming out no matter how much I shook it! So anyway major disappointment on the glitter front, but I absolutely love how this came out. So if you’re going to an Oscars screening party or just want to feel a little extra glam try this look out! Deats are below 🙂
Brows: Maybelline Fill and Define Duo in Deep Brown with Anastasia Dipbrow in Dark Brown and NYX Brow Mascara in Brunette.
Eyeshadows: All Shadows are from the Morphe 35N palette and the Buxom single eyeshadow. I will put the row number for the Morphe palette.
Crease: Row 3, shadow 4 (purple) blended through the crease with a fluffy blending brush. Then I used the shade right new to that (terracotta reddish) with a MAC 217 just above in the outer crease.
Outer crease: Row 4, shadow 7 (deeper purple) blended out in an exaggerated wing shape with a MAC 217 brush. Blend up towards your hairline. Don’t worry if this is messy at first I cleaned it up with a sharp line of concealer and then blended with my makeup sponge. This gives you a sharper, cleaner line.
Lower lashline: Wild Nights on a pencil brush and shadow in Row 4, shadow 6 (a deep eggplant shade) on a flat definer brush. Then I blended with a large fluffy brush.
Browbone: Row 1, shadow 1.
Inner Corner Highlight: Colourpop Highlighter in Wisp
Lashes: Ardell Wispies style in 305 with L’Oreal Telescopic in Carbon Black
Hi guys! I just wanted to get on here and post a quick New Year’s Eve makeup look. I’m hoping to have a super sparkly look up tomorrow using Makeup Geeks new Sparklers (my main review blogger, Temptalia, didn’t give them too promising a review, so we shall see how they work). Anyway enjoy your New Year’s Eve; thank you for supporting my blog this year. Makeup details are below.

Happy Holidays everyone! This is the look I wore this Christmas Eve, and if anyone has any formal or fancy Christmas plans this would be a great look to try (my family’s X-mas day is a bit more casual). This would also work for New Year’s Eve or a date night! The makeup details are below; I’ll also have some NYE makeup looks and my favorites of the year coming up soon.

Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water
Foundation: Too Faced Born this Way in Porcelain

It’s that time of year, where dramatic and glittery makeup looks are out to play. I’m of course talking about holiday makeup looks. There are countless options for holiday makeup looks this season, you could always go with the classic red lip and winged eyeliner, or you can try something a bit off the traditional path like the look above. Holiday looks have become even easier to create, and more glam than ever before with the slew of holiday palettes that hit the market this time of year. Just check out your local Sephora or Ulta and start putting beautiful palettes on your wishlist.
The palette I used is actually from my all-time favorite affordable brand, Colourpop Cosmetics. It’s their holiday Blitzed Palette, which features six stunning Supershock Shadows. The shadows are actually more cool toned, accept one spellbinding gold, and it was fun experimenting with the cool grays and blues. Not gonna lie, this look has Winter Wonderland written all over it, and is perfect for any party. I really love this for a Hanukkah look because of the stunning blues. As always, swatches and makeup details are below. Have a great holiday, I’ll have more looks coming!

This palette retails for $30, and the case is super nice and strudy. This must be new packaging for Colourpop and I love it. There’s a magnetic closure and mirror, which is perfect for travel, you could even mix and match your favorite Colourpop shadows and store them in here. The quality, like always, is on point. You can’t go wrong with buying this for a Secret Santa party of for yourself, teehee.

I must admit, I had never purchased a Morphe palette before this one although the Queen of Youtube, Jaclyn Hill raves about the brand. She’s always talking about how buttery, pigmented, and affordable Morphe’s eyeshadows are and once I saw the 35O palette, I wanted a taste of the Morphe pie. Like many other makeup obsessed girls, this orange infused palette became a fall dream palette for me. The palette which retails for $22.99 has sold out multiple times because of its popularity. This item is permanent though and will be back in stock soon according to Morphe’s page. So do Morphe’s eyeshadows live up to Jaclyn’s and many other beauty bloggers hype? I’ll give you all the deats below! Also, this makeup look is great for an office Halloween party or festive Halloween look!
Product and Review
Firstly, this palette features 35 shadows which is a great deal for the price. The shadows come in a pretty flimsy plastic palette which I don’t love, it feels like it could easily snap, but for the price point I’m not surprised. There are a wide range or mattes and shimmers in this palette which makes it very versatile, but I will say the shimmers perform about three times better than the mattes in my opinion.
I love the last two rows which is why I really bought this palette and they definitely performed the best. The brownish colors, especially the matte shades, need to be built up for strong pigment. I also felt a lot of the shades were extremely similar, but the uniqueness of the orangey hues made this palette worth it. The shadows I used blended nicely and were very pigmented.
My verdict: If you want affordable eyeshadows, these are a nice option, but I really only think the last two rows with some various other shades are worth it. You can see in the below swatches the lack of pigment/smoothness in some of the shadows. You could get the browns with better pigment by drugstore brands; I like NYX’s Matte Shadows. I’d give this palette an 8/10. I know I’ll get a lot of use out of many shades and hopefully some of the mattes work better on the eye than in a swatch. P.S. Morphe sells many similar shades individually if you don’t want to buy this palette for a few shades.
